On the 19th November 2010, an in house fight night tournament was organized here at Dragon Power Muaythai, MMA & Fitness centre. This was "UNDERGROUND" Muaythai & MMA Fight Night. The gym was filled to capacity with friends and family of the fighters as well as Dragon Power members that were there to train. The event was not publicized as it was meant to be kept as a small gathering. Many in attendance said that these were some of the best fights they have seen a long time. Three Muaythai and three MMA fights were scheduled for the evening and promised action from start to end.
First up was a new blood fight between Khalil Edwards and Keenan Hendricks. Both having made their Light Welter weight division and were ready to get things going. This was a toe to toe battle, with both fighters throwing everything they had from the very first bell. Unfortunately for Khalil, Keenan proved to have just that little more to take the win on points.
Next up were Middlweights Rikki Da Silva and Romano Birks, both having their first bouts. This too was a close fight going all the way to a points decision. It was even all the way, but Romano managed to take home the win by showing his superior stamina and constant aggressiveness to take the points decision.
Next up was a Catchweight bout between Juan-Dre Maxwell and first time fighter Willie van der Walt. The fight started off even, with both fighters trading blows and testing each other out. How ever as the fight drew on, Willie's size began to tire Juan-Dre out and he began to take advantage of this. Receiving a standing 8 count in the third round, Juan-Dre eventually lost on points to Willie in one of the most spectacular displays of heart a fighter can possess.
After the Muaythai fights it was time for the first "UNDERGROUND" MMA at Dragon power to take place. First up was Mathew Bertoni vs Jason "The Animal" Elrick. The fight started with each fighter standing and trading blows and testing each other out, however Mathew decided he was stronger on the ground and went for the takedown; only to land up on his back in guard. From this point Jason went to work attempting to ground and pound his way to victory, however he began to tire himself out and made the fatal error of giving the patient Mathew an arm to sink in the triangle choke for the tap out and his debut victory.
Next up was Middleweights Dean Rimmer vs Enje Scherman also in their debut MMA fights. This was a back and fourth battle. When ever one seemed about to win the other would break free and put the other into a precarious situation. It started off with them trading blows, until Dean decided to go for the takedown, where he ended up on top in guard for the majority of the round. Enje eventually finding the cage, managed to transition to a superior position with enough time to lay some ground and pound in and to take the round on points. Seconds out and they start the second round. They threw some shots at each other and ended up on the ground with dean in half guard. Enje eventually forced Dean to give him his back, where he snuck in a rear naked choke and win the fight via tap out.
Last up was the anticipated match up of the evening, between Welterweights Luca Castiglione and Kevin Harwood. They started off slow testing each other out for openings. This was the start of what was to be the most technical display of MMA of the night. Most of the first round was Kevin attacking on the ground looking for locks and chokes and Luca defending looking for the right moment to attack. The second round started and Luca hurled a massive kick, catching Kevin on the ribs. Immediately, Kevin picked up his pace and set into Luca with some merciless ground and pound from full mount. Luca unable to properly defend himself turned over where Kevin was able to sink in a rear naked choke for the tap out and victory.

We would like to say a big thank you to all those that came to support and helped out on the evening.
