Graham Warsop/The Jupiter Drawing Room

the digital edge
When Graham Warsop graduated with an LLM from Cambridge and qualified as a Barrister he realised that his passion could not be satisfied in the field of law. Having arrived in South Africa in 1987 to finish a novel, he took a job as a copywriter in a local advertising agency. After 18 months in the industry Graham thought of moving companies. Then he thought, instead of moving companies, why not start one? Thus some handshakes and a fabulous short story by Guy de Maupassant later, The Jupiter Drawing Room was born. Never one to do things by halves Graham went from junior copywriter to Chairman and Executive Creative Director overnight.

In the 20 years that Graham has been in advertising, he has won more creativity points (as measured by the official SA Creativity Survey) than any other Creative Director in South Africa. He is also the only Creative Director in South Africa to have served on the juries of all four major international festivals (Cannes, D&AD, The One Show and Clio's) the latter he Chaired (Print & Poster) in 2001.

A fervent believer in integrated creativity, Graham has grown The Jupiter Drawing Room to take a totally through-the-line approach to its work. Proof of this is reflected in the range of categories for which he has won the following international awards: 17 Cannes Lions, 23 Clios, 11 One Show Pencils, 27 London International Statues and 70 Medals at The New York Festival including Best of Show for Magazine in 2001 and he's still not finished.

Alistair King/King James

The largest pure independent in South Africa, King James is currently both AdReview's SA Agency of the Year and Cape Agency of the Year and works on such clients as Allan Gray, Brandhouse, Kulula.com, Santam, Parmalat, and Plascon. Alistair has always believed in medium-neutral creative thinking and strives to live and breathe pop culture, not merely observe it. One Small Seed(TM) forms part of its integrated agency network. Alistair has also owned a record label producing albums for such artists as Arno Carstens and Flat Stanley. He's a passionate collector of First edition books, Single malt whisky, Virgin Olive Oils and anything with a fascinating story to it. Tom Robbins and Jasper Maskelyne are his all time heroes.

Gavin Rooke/ISOBAR

the digital edge

Gavin is currently the Group Managing Director of Trigger/Isobar, one of SAís leading full service Digital Agencies. Gavin founded Trigger in 1999 and grew the agency into an award-winning multidisciplinary digital agency that now comprises seven integrated specialist units. In the last year he has been asked to judge at the following awards shows: The One Show (USA), CLIOs (USA), The Dubai Lynx (MENA), The Loeries (SA) and The Broadcast Design Awards (Europe).

Farai Madzima/Native

the digital edge

Farai advocates for designs and ideas that put humans first.

He lived in the UK for 7 years and worked as a User Experience Designer at global digital agencies such as Razorfish. During this time he came to the belief that effective branding relies less on messaging and so much more on the experience a brand enables. Experiences that favour businesses and technologies while sidelining people's needs will have a hard time endearing themselves to people. He says he started to think this way while at the University of Plymouth, where he studied the social and human impacts of media and technology.

In early 2011 Farai left the UK for South Africa in search of sunshine and an opportunity to pursue his life's BHAG: the preservation of African cultures by building digital platforms for Africans to tell African stories.
