Ruan Potts was asked to take leave over 4 weeks ago for indefinite till the administration issue of a standard fighters contract agreement between Dragon Power and Ruan Potts (the fighter) was resolved. This may come as a surprise to most of you but Ruan Potts did not want to sign the Dragon Power standard contract to show his commitment to the team
This is the first time a fighter whom came to us and asked for a job and to fight for Dragon Power to refuse to sign a contract, Dragon Power is not on club level we act and conduct business on highly recognized international level our best interests and investment is in the fighter, Dragon Power since 1993 is one of the few camps around the world that have a sustainable infrastructure, Specialist coaching staff, diet dietician, Physiotherapy, Sports Doctor, top commercial and sports Lawyer, International photographer and Management team to take care of all the PR, external contracts, sponsorships, media, coaching etc .
Ruan came to Dragon Power at the beginning of last year who was unknown to the International and South African Muaythai and MMA circuit, we gave him a high ranked position with salary, Dragon Power personally sponsored food, Supplements, Physiotherapy, Doctors and Lawyers fees etc for over a year also to add all the expenses which was not covered by promoters ie local and International flights, accommodation, fighters entry fee the list goes on. It is not in Dragon Power's interest to continue with Ruan Potts with out the agreement which all Dragon Power fighters sign; the only incident to a fighter not wanting to sign a standard contract was Ruan Potts. We like to wish Ruan well with his future in the fighting game, at the same time we at Dragon Power need to keep a professional structure to work with and be fair to the other Dragon Power fighters/athletes who want a chance and are willing to be dedicated as professional sportsman by partnering up with Dragon Power to reach common dreams. On a more positive note we would also like to announce we busy negotiating internationally recognized ground specialist to join the Dragon Power coaching staff.
We would like to wish Ruan the best of luck in his upcoming fight against Normal Wessels. We have no doubt that he will win, however in the real business of fighting; if Ruan wants to get to where he wants he needs to sign a contract as that is how the industry works. As well as showing no trust between himself and his trainers. This is a normal standard , regardless of who you are. Dragon Power has been running since 1993 as an international business not on a club level and we only take on World Class talents with full sportsmen qualities such as respect honour & loyalty.
