Press Release: International UMF Muaythai & DL MMA 'YEAR OF THE DRAGON' Fight Night

The Grand Arena, GrandWest, sold out made for the
perfect venue to host the International UMF Muaythai & Dragon
Legends MMA "YEAR OF THE DRAGON" Fight Night & Launch of the
Youth Leadership Training Programme (YLTP). The Event was hosted by
The Honorable, The Deputy Minister of International Relations Mr.
Marius Fransman, His Excellency , The Ambassador designate to
Kazakhstan Mr Shirish Soni, Mr Russel Christopher - Representative
of the International Association of Human Values & Youth
Leadership Training Program & Sifu Kru Quentin 'Dragon' Chong.
The fights were fast and action packed, with 2 DL MMA fights
and 8 UMF Muaythai Fights on the bill. We were privileged to have
special guests that attended in the likes of: IFMA Vice-President -
Gary Trappler, Manop Masiwen (Quentin Chong's teacher, head trainer
of WMC Head Camp & Head trainer of 'The Challenger Muaythai'),
the former president of Malawi, Chief Director of Sports Western
Cape Lyndon Bouah, former ministers, Hollywood stars and many other
celebrities.
The doors opened at 6:00pm to the sounds of the Amy
Biehl dancers and marimba players with the official start to the
event beginning at 7:00pm with The Sounds of Africa, Dragon Power's
Youth Leadership Training Programme Drummers.
Fight 1: Junior Muaythai Bantamweight - Pumo
Khoza (Durban) defeated Slimamkele 'Burger' Mpongobe (Cape Town) by
a unanimous points decision.
Fight 2: Senior Muaythai Light Heavyweight -
Akhona Mngqibisa (Cape Town) defeated Nicholas McCreath (Cape
Town) by unanimous points decision.
Fight 3: Senior Muaythai Bantamweight - Guy 'Kwazi'
Lazarus (Cape Town) defeated Mandla 'Shosha' Gogo (Durban) by
unanimous points decision.
The 'Sounds of Africa' then took to the stage for
the second time and gave an electrifying performance to welcome the
world to fight night via live online streaming on Zoopy.com/umf.
The crowd was then entertained by the very moving launch video of
the Muaythai Against Drugs documentary.
Fight 4: Junior Muaythai Pinweight - South African
MAD Title Belt - Mkhululi 'MP3' Mlanjeni (Cape Town) defeats Mlu
Khoza (Durban) by KO in the 1st round.
The Honorable, the Deputy Minister of International
Relations Mr. Marius Fransman presented an award to Sifu Kru
Quentin 'Dragon' Chong to announce his ambassadorship for the Youth
of South Africa.
Fight 5: Muaythai Welterweight - Lucian
'Juggernaught' Birks (Cape Town) defeated Xolani 'Boro' Mchunu
(Durban) by KO 1st Round.
Fight 6: MMA Lightweight - Bonga 'Mkomo' Hadebe
(Durban) defeated Kevin Harwood (Cape Town) by TKO 1st round.
Fight 7: Muaythai Light Middleweight -
Cee 'Croco-Croco' Khuboni (Durban) defeated Zahir Parker
(Cape Town) by KO 2nd Round.
Manop Masiwen (Nong) from of the Kingdom of
Thailand presented awards for Community Service to pay tribute to
people around the world for their efforts in community service. The
Dragon Power International Community Service award was given to:
Mr. Russel Christopher, representative for the YLTP , The
honourable the Deputy Minister of International Relations Mr Marius
Fransman, His Excellency the Ambassador designate to Kazakhstan Mr
Shirish Soni, Sifu Kru Quentin 'Dragon' Chong.
Fight 8: Female Muaythai Featherweight - Rushda
Mallick (Cape Town) defeated Storm 'Force' Brown (Cape Town) by
unanimous points decision.
The Ubuntu B-boys gave a world class performance to
keep the crowds cheering and on the edge of their seats, and a
promo video for the upcoming UMF Muaythai & Dragon Legends MMA
Fight Night in March 2012.
Fight 9: MMA Professional Middleweight -
Sihle 'Somnandi' Khuboni (Durban) defeated Marcel 'Little
Hammer' Teniers (Cape Town) TKO in the 3rd round.
The Muaythai Against Drugs Title Belt Fight began
with the solemnity and international protocol with the crowds
standing to attention while the national anthems of Thailand and
South Africa were played.
Fight 10: Muaythai Professional Middleweight -
International MAD Title Belt WMC- Jarred 'Rothwieler'
Rothwell (Dragon Power, Cape Town, South Africa) defeated Lek
Paijaiya (WMC Gym, Koh Samui, Thailand) by unanimous points
decision.
